Grace Zebango has been a volunteer at CHOC since 2013, having assisted in the office and in fundraising and events for Northern Region, Gauteng South and most recently CHOC head office.
Being able to say I contributed to a positive change in the world, in keeping more than hope alive in the lives of others, procures meaning to my life beyond my self-interests.
Volunteering with CHOC is an experience that continuously teaches me something new about people, about cooperation, about compassion and about myself.
One of my most memorable moments was the preparation and the launch of the renovated Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital paediatric oncology ward. That experience reminded me that together we can achieve more. The entire CHOC team including volunteers and partners contributed in every possible way to make it happen. Life has so much to offer if we remember look beyond ourselves.
Of course there are many other memorable moments and events. For me being part of the CHOC family has changed my life from being simply self-centered to adding meaning to others too.”
