We are absolutely thrilled to welcome back our CHOC Cow after 8 months! Lorna Gardener and her mosaic team from Time Out Studio undertook the mammoth task of transforming the CHOC Cow into a mosaic masterpiece.
Once known as Daisy, the perfectly moulded cow was originally part of a national fundraiser called the Cow Parade. The company who purchased Daisy relocated their offices and so the East London CHOC House was her new home. The cow was transferred to Lorna’s garden where her and a group of 5 ladies spent “hundreds of hours” working on her come rain or shine. On sunny days the mirror pieces reflected the light blinding the artists and so often had to be moved into Lorna’s lounge for the work to continue.
Daisy is now back home at the CHOC House and has also undergone a name change! Her name is now Nothemba – the female version of the word Ithemba which means HOPE. We thought this name was very appropriate as the CHOC motto is “Keeping more than HOPE alive.”
