The CHOC survivor programme is aptly called SOLID (Survivor, Overcome, Live, Inspire, Dynamic) and aims to provide holistic support to survivors of childhood cancer and life-threatening blood disorders; and to encourage survivors to become leaders and advocate for childhood cancer.
On the last day of treatment all survivors are invited to complete a membership form. The programme consists of three age groups: 15 – 18 years, 19 – 35 years and over 36 years. Key activities include:
- Attending various social activities, workshops and being part of a group able to represent CHOC at various fundraising/awareness activities
- Sharing positive life experiences with current childhood cancer and life-threatening blood disorder patients through hospital visits and/or CHOC house visits
- Assisting with fundraising initiatives in the Region
